Prof Dr. S. V. Chiplunkar

Dr. S V Chiplunkar is Director and Principle Investigator at Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC), Tata Memorial Centre. She did her Ph.D. from University of Mumbai, India in 1983 and Post-Doctoral Research at Max Planck Institute Fur Immunologie, Freiburg, Germany (1984-86).

The focus of her research is on understanding the immune scenario and reasons for immune dysfunctions in patients with cancer. Her major research is in studying the role of hematopoietic and mesenchymal stem cells for management of hematological neoplasms, tissue regeneration and repair. Chiplunkar’s lab mainly focuses on understanding immune dysfunctions in cancer patients and is working on developing immunotherapeutic treatment modalities.
